And we're open!
Last week we opened the new Marilyn Monroe show at Universal Studios here in Orlando! We worked so hard over 2 weeks of non-stop rehearsals. Rehearsals were a week of 8 hours per day, dancing and learning choreography. The second week, it was all overnights: aka, shifting your sleeping and eating pattern - It was a tad bit rough, haha. Your mind and body don't work too well at 3am, when you've been up all day. I found that I'd be doing the choreography, feel like I'm nailing it, then - OH GEEZ - I just totally went the wrong way (but I knew it while it was happening). Ha!
Our show is based upon a dress rehearsal for Marilyn Monroe's upcoming feature film. For us dancers, the pin-up look is right on point with Marilyn's classic beauty of course ;)
Along with Marilyn and her Diamond Bellas dancing at her side, we have the Director of the feature film that welcomes everyone to our dress rehearsal and directs our audience to be the necessary background extras for the shot! One lucky guy always gets to be our "featured Candyman" as we dance and sing along to the Candyman song. I haven't seen ONE yet that hasn't blushed with nerves ha!
Seeing the excitement from our audiences made it ALL worth it. As a matter of fact, it was ALSO Marilyn Monroe's birthday a couple days ago so what a nice little treat the week of her birthday. Hopefully this'll be a new year-round show. This cast of men and women were REALLY awesome. I'm eager to see how this show and everyone's performance grows as time goes on.
